What is Invisalign® treatment?

What is
Invisalign® treatment?

Invisalign® treatment uses a series of clear aligners made of medical-grade plastic that are designed specifically for your teeth, gradually moving them into alignment over a period of time. Invisalign® aligners are removable, so you won’t need to adjust your diet or oral hygiene routine.

Invisalign® clear aligners are a great solution for treating dental issues such as:

  • Large gaps

  • Uneven spacing

  • Crooked teeth

  • Crowded teeth

  • Some bite abnormalities

  • Cross bites

How does Invisalign®
treatment work?

At Bachmayer Orthodontic Clinic in Norwest and Tallawong, the Invisalign® treatment process starts with a precise digital scan of your teeth using our advanced 3D intraoral scanner. This cutting-edge technology allows us to design a personalised treatment plan, mapping out every stage of your journey to a straighter smile.

Your plan is then sent to Invisalign® headquarters, where your custom-made clear aligners are crafted for a perfect fit. To progress through treatment, you’ll switch to a new set of aligners every 1-2 weeks as directed.

Invisalign® clear aligners are particularly convenient for busy adults across Sydney, as you can complete much of the treatment from home, requiring fewer in-person visits while still achieving outstanding results.

Benefits of
Invisalign® treatment

There are numerous benefits that make Invisalign® treatment an attractive option for adults.

  • You can remove your aligners to eat, clean your teeth, and when attending important social functions.

  • Invisalign® treatment can correct some incorrect bites as well as align teeth.

  • Invisalign® clear aligners are virtually invisible, so your treatment can be a secret.

  • Your aligners are tailor-made just for your teeth for effective treatment.

  • As your teeth move into alignment, your overall dental hygiene and health can improve.

  • Invisalign® clear aligners are made of a comfortable and smooth material.

FAQs about Invisalign® for adults

Here are some answers to questions our patients regularly ask:

We can never promise perfectly straight teeth to our adult patients, as their jaws are no longer growing. However, we can still achieve stunning results, and with our iTero Digital Scanner we will be able to show you your predicted final results before you start treatment.

Invisalign® treatment is often faster than traditional brace treatments, taking approximately 18 to 24 months to complete. It is important to note that compliance is the key to receiving the results you desire in a timely manner, so be sure to wear your aligners as directed.

Invisalign® clear aligners should be removed when eating and drinking coloured beverages. Be sure to place them in their case when you are not using them so they won’t be accidentally thrown away or damaged.

At night, rinse out your aligners and clean them with a soft-bristled toothbrush. Be cautious not to use very hot water as this could warp the plastic of your aligners.

Other than some mild discomfort when starting a new series of aligners, Invisalign® treatment should not be painful and any discomfort should only last a few days.

If you lose or break an aligner please contact our team as soon as possible so we can advise you on the next steps.

After earning her Bachelor of Dental Science (Honours) from the University of Queensland, she moved halfway across the globe to complete a Master of Science in Orthodontics at the University of Manitoba. She's now qualified as a specialist orthodontist in Australia, Canada, and the USA because why settle for one country when you can have three?

Her research has been featured at international conferences, and she's a fellow of the Royal College of Dentists of Canada and a member of the AAO (American Association of Orthodontists) and CAO (Canadian Association of Orthodontists).

Dr. Moon is passionate about providing evidence-based, personalised care, with a special interest in digital orthodontics and clear aligner therapy. She has also completed the Aligner Intensive Fellowship, an advanced training program in aligner treatment, ensuring her patients benefit from the latest techniques in orthodontic care. With a knack for spotting the little details that make a big difference, she loves helping patients achieve smiles they’re proud to show off.

During her time in Canada, Dr. Moon embraced the cold with skiing, chasing the northern lights, and surviving temperatures that could freeze your eyelashes.
